David, you are such a brave man to have gone through what you have.  Brett was a great person and enlightened any room he walked in to.  I remember seeing him on "Parkway" many times in the gray truck that was higher than it was supposed to be.  He was so proud of that truck.  He really cared for everyone that he knew and he always put other people first.  God wanted you to be his father for a reason and I hope that your other children have learned from this.  Everything in this world happens for a reason even, though it is not written on paper and expained to you.  I will always remember Brett and that cute smile and I will always remember what you went through.  You are truely a good and devoted father, something not all of us have.  God Bless you and your family.

What a beautiful website and tribute to Brett. He looks like he was really enjoying life and being young and carefree. It is a pleasure to see pictures of Brett expressing himself through the way he chose to look; he looked completely unique and feeling good in his own skin. Too many people live their whole lives repressing themselves for the need to impress others. You should be proud that Brett was comfortable with himself and allowed the whole to see him as he was if only for a short time. Thanks for sharing Brett, he is a beautiful boy. Close

David - I am overwhelmed with emotion after reading your journal.  Your devotion to your sweet son, Brett was evident in your words.  This is why
God chose you to be Brett's Dad......because He knew you would love him unconditionally and always be there for him.  May the warm memories you have of Brett bring peace to your heart. God's blessings to you and your family.

Always in our hearts  / Gail (Mom to Angel Kristin )
David, you are doing such a great job on Brett's site. I love that we can share our children. The picture with Brett in his mohawk and tatts brought a smile. I can hear my Kristin now, "Look mom, he is so cool, let me get one". I know there is no words to help the pain, the emptiness, the feeling in your heart. We walk this road together. Just reading your story of Brett tells so much about you too. It comes natural, we do for our children no matter what. And we continue even after they become angels. I know you came to our group to share and be with parents that have lost something inside too. But you have helped me and I will share that more in depth one day. I know you are proud to be Brett's dad just I am to be Kristin's mom. There is a saying that I seen in a compassionate friends newsletter. I wrote it down and pinned it on my computer. "Is it worth the pain we are experiencing now to have had Brett and Kristin for the time that we did". That is a hard one to answer being the pain is so great, but absolutely. I would do it all again just to have Kristin in my life the time that I did. My thoughts and prayers are with you. >I< Close

David I am so sorry for your family's loss of Brett.  I have read the journal you kept and you were so faithful to him when he needed you most.  I know your pain of losing a son.  My son was murdered on 11/06/05.  I have you and your family in my prayers that you will be given the strength and love to get through this.  Keep your faith in God because I know he is the only one that helps us endure this pain.

A very very beautiful tribute from a loving father.  / Opal Brillhart (Friend of grandmother, Mary Ellen Lundberg )
I never had the privilege of meeting Brett but I feel as though I knew him....  all during the months of his "waiting on God" I heard of his progress - or lack thereof - from his grandmother, Mary Ellen, and prayed and grieved, rejoiced and prayed some more.
This is the most loving tribute I have ever read -  this is LOVE -
My heart is so full - I cannot find enough "adjectives" to describe what a beautiful LIVING testimony this is of a father's love - a FAMILY'S love.
I feel blessed to have been able to read about Brett's life and particularly his last months in this world.
God Bless. Close
